"I started my journey with Yacht Week right here in the Saronic Islands as a baby-faced intern back in 2019. From then, to now working as the Event Manager here, Iāve been fortunate to do a number of different routes with the company. I can safely say that the Greece route will always be the one closest to my heart.
On the first week of every season, upon arrival to Poros (our first island stop of the week), Iām greeted by the locals exclaiming āWelcome home!ā as we share hugs and kisses. Itās special for someone that grew up on the other side of the world in Australia to truly feel like I have a second home here in Europe.
Greek hospitality is legendary and is what I believe makes the route so special. The locals take so much pride in being the absolute best hosts they can be and look after our guests and staff extremely well. The care they put into their food, service and friendships is something to marvel at. And while it may be somewhat of a stereotype to say youāll never go hungry in Greece, I can definitely vouch for thatā¦
Some iconic moments from the Greece route that stick out for me start with that first evening on the water on our tunnel raft. As fun as the party is, the thing that blows me away every week is the guaranteed stunning sunset that occurs in āShipwreck Bayā. As the DJs wind down their set, the rest of us sit on the our boats mesmerised by the colours in the sky. Itās a special Yacht Week moment.
Mondays in Poros are full of special moments. ATV rides in the morning, limbo at Love Bay in the afternoon, dining on fresh seafood at local tavernas in the evening before dancing the night away on the barrels at Malibu.
Tuesdays are for recovery, recharging those batteries before tackling the rest of the week. The sunsets in Hydra is on par with the those we witness on Sundays. Maybe even betterā¦
Ermioni Wednesdays are home to the fabled Cavo Bianco day party. To this day, my favourite event across all yacht week routes. If you know, you know.
Thursdays are for swim-stopping the day away before enjoying one final evening together under the trees at our own private beach club at Seen.
In my biased opinion, I think Greece is paced the best of any route. It strikes the right balance of partying, relaxed holiday vibes and culture. Itās smaller and more intimate which provides the opportunity to get to know your fellow Yacht Weekers on a much deeper level. The staff team is tight here and by the end of the week, the guests are too.
Iāve spent a good chunk of my life growing up on the Saronic Islands with this company and pinch myself every week that I get to do what I do in a place like this.
Yiamas (cheers) to the Yacht Week Greece Route!"
